全球最大零售商Wal-Mart創辦人Sam Walton,曾經寫下企業成功經營的十大法則。這十條準則中的關鍵字,都是「動詞」。牢牢記住這些動詞,不只要把它們輸入你腦中的英文資料庫,還要落實在每天的經營管理上。


準則一:Commit(投入)全心經營,比別人更盡心盡力

Commit to your business. Believe in it more than anybody else.
全力投入。

準則二:Share(分享)和同仁分享利潤,視同仁為夥伴,同仁也會以你為夥伴。
Share your profits with all your associates, and treat them as partners. In turn, they will treat you as a partner, and together you will all perform beyond your wildest expectations.
和同仁分享利潤,並視他們為夥伴。

準則三:Motivate(激勵)激勵你的夥伴。
Motivate your partners. Set high goals, encourage competition, and then keep score. Make bets with outrageous payoffs.
激勵你的夥伴。

準則四:Communicate(溝通)凡事和夥伴溝通,他們知道愈多,就愈能理解,也就愈關心。
Communicate everything you possibly can to your partners. Information is power, and the gain you get from empowering your associates more than offsets the risk of informing your competitors.
盡一切可能和你的夥伴做好溝通。

準則五:Appreciate(感激)感激同仁對公司的貢獻。
Appreciate everything your associates do for the business. Nothing else can quite substitute for a few well-chosen, well-timed, sincere words of praise. They're absolutely free --and worth a fortune.
感激同仁為公司貢獻的每一份心力。

準則六:Celebrate(讚美)成功要大肆慶祝,失敗則不必喪志。
Celebrate your success. Loosen up, and everybody around you will loosen up.
大肆慶祝成功。

準則七:Listen(聆聽)聆聽公司內的每一個人,並設法讓他們暢所欲言。
Listen to everyone in your company and figure out ways to get them talking. To push responsibility down in your organization, and to force good ideas to bubble up within it, you must listen to what your associates are trying to tell you.
聆聽員工心聲,並想辦法讓他們暢所欲言。

準則八:Exceed(超越)超越顧客的期待,顧客就會一再光臨。
Exceed your customer's expectations. Make good on all your mistakes, and don't make excuses--apologize.
超越客戶的期待。

準則九:Control(掌握)控制成本低於競爭對手,這就是你的競爭優勢。
Control your expenses better than your competition. You can make a lot of different mistakes and still recover if you run an efficient operation. Or you can be brilliant and still go out of business if you're too inefficient.
比競爭者更能控制成本。

準則十:Swim upstream(逆境求生)逆流而上,走不同的路,放棄傳統觀念。
Swim upstream. If everybody else is doing it one way, there's a good chance you can find your niche by going in exactly the opposite direction.
逆境求生。(swim upstream是一句很好的美國成語,Learning is like swimming upstream. 意思是學如逆水行舟。)
